Havening®
The Havening Techniques® is a Psychosensory Therapy developed by Ronald A. Ruden, M.D. Ph.D.
The Havening Techniques® are a healing method that is designed to help individuals overcome problems that are the consequence of traumatic encoding. The Havening Techniques® belong to a larger group of methods called psychosensory therapies, which use sensory input to alter thought, mood and behavior.
The Havening Techniques® do not involve a hypnotic trance. The client is always aware of their feelings, thoughts, and surroundings and participates fully in the process.
As part of its protocol, The Havening Techniques® uses the sensory input of human touch as a therapeutic tool, which we call the Havening Touch®.
The Havening Touch® involves a simple touch of the hands, upper arm and face. Even though a trusted practitioner will be performing the Havening Touch®, it is essential as part of the informed consent process that permission be obtained for this aspect of the session.
It’s a very safe and gentle therapy. This is a method, which is designed to change the brain to de-traumatise the memory and remove its negative effects from both our psyche and body.
